THE NEUROMODULATORS: BOTOX, XEOMIN AND DYSPORT Pretty Please Aesthetics

Neuromodulators Sacramento

What are neuromodulators?

Neuromodulators are wrinkle-relaxing injections of botulinum toxin, commercially known as Botox, Xeomin, Dysport, and Jeuveau. Botulinum toxin is derived from the protein in Clostridium botulinum bacteria. When injected into the muscle, this protein causes temporary relaxation of the muscle group for approximately 2-4 months. The large majority of people refer to Botulinum toxin as “Botox”; however, there are a few other similar products on the market that work the same magic on our faces and bodies.

What does Botox do?

Botulinum toxin is injected into the muscle for the softening of expression lines. It can also be used for headaches/migraines, overactive bladder, strabismus, pain management, excessive perspiration, muscle spasms, and hypertrophic muscles. Recently, there has been an uptick in men getting Botox in their scrotum and penis, aka Scrotox and Growtox!

What are the benefits?

At Pretty Please Aesthetics, we LOVE Botox (and Dysport, and Xeomin!). Quality tox treatments are hard to find, but when you find the right provider, you stick with her or him! Botox can relax the furrowing “11’s” between your eyebrows and soften your forehead, crow’s feet, smile lines, and chin muscles. We love treating neck bands with Botox to give a more youthful look and help with “tech neck.” Microdosing of Botox into the dermis can help with crepey skin, sweating, and enlarged pores. We use Botox for jawline slimming and pain management associated with neck pain, headaches and TMJ pain. When placed properly, botulinum toxin will soften your appearance and, in combination with medical-grade skincare, help you age gracefully… or backward, in some cases!

Are there risks?

Side effects of botulinum toxin include bruising/swelling at the injection point, migration of product, headache, weakness of adjacent muscle, and, less likely, infection.

Am I a good candidate for Botox?

Botulinum toxin should not be injected in pregnant and breastfeeding women, as well as patients with certain neurologic and uncontrolled autoimmune disorders. Please schedule a consultation with one of our providers to see if Botox is right for you!

What happens after and how soon will I see results?

Immediately after your injections, you may experience localized swelling, which will subside after 15 minutes. Clients should stay upright for 4 hours after injections, avoid touching the area, and refrain from putting on a hat and working out for 4 hours. Results will take approximately 3-14 days to take full effect.

Is there a follow-up?

We like to see our clients back after 2 weeks to assess your treatment and make any necessary “tweakments” to your dose. We want to make sure you are 100% happy with your results.
